Overview

Although we make use of some advanced techniques for special effects such as animation and dynamic menus, we have made every effort to ensure that this website is easy to use and free from errors. In the unlikely event that you do experience problems, hopefully these should be minor, such as incorrect Internet Explorer web browser settings which can be easily fixed.

1. Technical Requirements
 

To use the living-out.co.uk website, it is recommended that you use one of the following browsers (or later versions):-

  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0
  • Netscape 7.0
  • Opera 8.5
  • AOL 9.0
  • Firefox 1.5

If earlier versions or other types browsers are used, the website will be useable, but a small loss of functionality could be experienced.

Your browser must be enabled to use both JavaScript and Cookies (see below).

Our web pages are optimised for a screen resolution of 1024x768 pixels (or larger).
 
2. Javascript Settings

Javascript - If you are experiencing problems with opening windows or with animation, it is be worth checking your web browser settings to ensure that javascript is enabled.

This is done in Internet Explorer by:-

1. Open the Tools menu and select Internet Options.

2. In the Internet Options window, select the Security tab at the top.

3. Under the Security tab, select the Internet Web content zone.

4. If there is a slider bar, move the slider bar to Medium and select OK.

5. If there is no slider bar:-

  • Click on the Custom Level button at the bottom of the page to open the Security Settings window.
  • In the Security Settings window scroll down until you get to the section called Scripting (near the bottom of the page).
  • Under Scripting there is a catagory Active scripting, select the option marked Enable for this catagory.
  • Click the OK button on the Security Settings window and again on the Internet Options window.

3. Printing print
 

PrintingProblems with Printing in Internet Explorer - The graphics for many pages on this website make use of layered text and images. If a page is not printing as it appears on the web browser, the print configuration settings may be incorrect.

To fix this problem, either use a different browser, such as Firefox, or change the Internet Explorer settings as follows:-

1. Open the Tools menu and select Internet Options.

2. Select the Advanced tab and check the Print background colors and images box.

3. Select OK.
 
4. Safari Web Browser - pop-up windows don't expand to fit the image safari
 
This is a bug in some versions of the Safari browser which handles the pop-up windows on the Gallery page incorrectly. There is no fix available.
